The late David Foster Wallace’s 2005 graduation speech at Kenyon College provides clarity for confusing times. The full speech was published as a book titled This Is Water in 2009. Wallace was an English professor at Illinois State University from 1993-2002. Here’s an excerpt that has been viewed over 4 million times on youtube.
The Linsbrother’s youtube channel has received over 2 million views. Most of the recent videos feature Purdue student and gymnast Ben Lins who not only makes funny music videos but is also cited as the creator of the “batmanning” craze. Here’s their most recent video of Icona Pop’s “I Love It”. I also posted other popular videos from previous site posts. Check out the Linsbrothers website HERE or their Youtube channelHERE.
Starting in 2010, millions of youtube viewers have watched Craigery Morgan mimmicking his favorite SNL skits. Seems like an simple idea, but he makes it quite funny. (more…)
I dread the return of America’s Got (no) Talent this summer. It’s terrible, especially when compared to the same Simon Cawell produced “Got Talent” shows around the globe. Really, a dog act showcases America’s talent? Here’s a clip from the first round of this seasons “Britain’s Got Talent”. Simply amazing. Seriously, if half of the television schedule in the U.S. is an American version of a British tv show (Shameless, Undercover Boss, Veep, American Idol, X Factor, The Office, Being Human, Skins, QAF, America’s Got Talent, Antiques Roadshow, Shark Tank, Kitchen Nightmares-to name just a few) and our best talent is dogs, puppets and musical acts that have no real talent, why bother importing it to this country?
In the 2000′s, perhaps millions of bored teenagers have set up their webcams and made their own lip synched music videos to post on youtube. In the summer of 2006, two teens from Derby, U.K. lipsynched a parody of the song “Barbie Girl”. It’s only been a couple years, but I think it’s possible that it would be controversial today. The video garnered millions of views and instant fame for Jake Walmsley and Chris Green. Over the next couple of years, their Syncsta channel garnered over 11 million views. A few years ago, one of them (unidentified) messed with their youtube account which led to a disagreement which resulted in the end of Syncsta (and their friendship).
This video from 2009′s Poland’s Got Talent popped up everywhere on the interwebs this weekend. They are Jacek Wyskup and Bartek Pankau of Melkart Ball. How’d they do that?
